WMD Found In Iraq

Why is this a surprise?
And why hasn't it been picked up by the mainstream media, since it was published in European presses on the 17th of May?

Sarin: 1st WMD found in Iraq
17/05/2004 17:48 - (SA)
Baghdad, Iraq - A roadside bomb containing sarin nerve agent exploded near a US military convoy in Baghdad, the US military said on Monday. It was the first confirmed finding of any of the banned weapons upon which the United States based its case for the Iraq war.

"The Iraqi Survey Group confirmed today that a 155mm artillery round containing sarin nerve agent had been found," said Brigadier General Mark Kimmitt, the chief military spokesperson in Iraq. "The round had been rigged as an IED (improvised explosive device) which was discovered by a US force convoy.

"A detonation occurred before the IED could be rendered inoperable. This produced a very small dispersal of agent," he said. The incident occurred "a couple of days ago", he said. Two US soldiers were treated for minor injuries, Kimmitt added.

Sarin, developed in the 1930s, is the the deadly nerve agent that killed 12 people and injured 5 000 others in a Tokyo subway in March 1995. It is 500 times more powerful than cyanide, and was used to kill millions in the gas chambers of Nazi death camps in the closing stages of World War 2.

Brigadier General Mark Kimmitt said the 155mm round had been rigged as a roadside bomb and was discovered by a passing US convoy.

"Two explosive ordnance team members were treated for minor exposure to nerve agent as a result of the partial detonation of the round," Kimmitt told a press conference in Baghdad.

He said that the deadly agent was produced after two chemicals in separate sections of the shell mixed after it was fired.

"Mixing and dispersal of the agent from such a projectile as an IED (improvised explosive device) is very limited," he said. "The cell is designed to work after being fired from an artillery piece."

"The former regime had declared all such rounds destroyed before the 1991 Gulf war."

He said he believed that insurgents who rigged the artillery shell as a bomb didn't know it contained the nerve agent, and that the dispersal of the nerve agent from such a rigged device was very limited. Many of the materials used for roadside bombs are believed to have been looted from arsenals after the collapse of the regime in April 2003.

What are the Dems going to do when these weapons begin to show up, apologize to the President for calling him a liar? There's not a man or woman big enough to do that in the whole party. It's going to be interesting to see how they dance around this one.

The point is, idiot, that while Saddam had no to minimum WMD (so little that the 911 comission makes the blanket statement that they do not exist and the White House has actually concurred), Iran and North Korea now have WMD. This occured on Bush's watch. If you didn't have such blind servitude to the Bush-god, then you'd have realized this. You'd have realized that Bush made up the case to go to war long ago, then he did so.

But you don't get it.

Is there some sort of training camp where the Dems put you guys to teach you how to be rude, thoughtless and mindless?

Iran and North Korea have been developing weapons since the Clinton years. That's documented.

Where were you on 9/11? That's why we went to war in Afghanistan AND in Iraq.

You're the one who doesn't "get it." And you can't spell, either.
Commission has two Ms and occurred has two Rs. I won't call you an idiot -- I choose to be better mannered. Besides, idiocy speaks for itself.

You could choose to try to argue based on content. But that's OK. Sticking to spelling mistakes is easier.

I was one hour from NY on 9/11. I evacuated our hospital to prepare for casualities that never came. The week prior, I'd been to the trade center neighborhood, walked around City Hall. I still have the tie I bought that day from a place off the Stock Exchange.

You conservatives appear to forget that while you see yourself as "true America," the terrorists disagree.

As to why we went to war with Iraq, there's no sense telling you that your delusion is just that, a fixed false belief. The 911 comission found that there are no ties between Saddam and militant Islamic terrorism. In fact, even the sound of Saddam being an ally with Islamic fundamentalism is just plain silly. Saddam ran a secular tyranny. One of Bin Laudin's (he's the guy you're thinking of, I know it's easy to get these Arabs confused, but he's Saudi) goals was to create a pan Arab Islamofascism empire. As such, he wanted to remove Saddam from power. He couldn't, obviously, until the US did it for him.

But that's just one of the ways you're stupid.

On the contrary, I chose to correct your spelling simply because you called me an idiot.

Frankly, I don't care where you were on 9/11 except that I'm glad you weren't at ground zero. I take it, then, since you say the terrorists don't agree with my concept of America, you agree with the terrorists? Frankly, I don't care what you or the terrorists think of America as long as you don't try to destroy it. That's the only argument I have with the terrorists.

That's not what the 9/11 Commission said at all. You really should read the document, it's fascinating. There was a connection -- s link between Hussein, the Philipine terrorists and Bin Laden's group. And, just for your enlightenment since you seem to need it, there was a link between the Philippine group and the bombers in OK City, as well.

No, I didn't confuse Bin Laden with Hussein -- I'm very aware of the difference and you'll do well to stop making assumptions like that. They weaken your arguments as assumptions always do.

Hussein and Bin Laden had one important thing in common that overrode every other goal each had -- they hated America and would would bed with any devil, even each other, to do us harm. Which they did.

If your manners don't improve, so-called Dr., I'll delete your posts. It's one thing to insult me on your blog but quite another to do so on mine.
